So, how are you recording Adventure 100?

Adventure 100 is a fantastic challenge for everyone (see http://www.girlguiding.org.uk/centenary for more info). However, my biggest challenge so far has been working out how to record it so it looks fun and, as leaders, we can keep track of how many points the girls have or still need to get. There is a booklet coming down from CHQ which will have spaces to record everything but, hopefully, we can't lose half a roll of newspaper!

The second photo is Horatio, the bearded dragon, trying to help me!

Oh yes, this blog is my attempt to complete part 10 of "Wacky 10" - capture your own personal Centens moments. Perhaps not a conventional scrapbook but at least the photos aren't going to fall out!

Our launch party

Our launch party was on Saturday 5th September at one of the local secondary schools. We met just up the road at the junior school and then all walked in from there. Strangely enough, the Rainbows managed to get to the secondary school in about half the time that the Guides and Rangers took. Once the Town Crier declared our party well and truly open, the girls immediately all ran off to the various activities, even the ones who were being really shy and wanted to go round with an adult to start with. We had giant games, African drumming, circus skills, parachute games, face-painting, a colouring competition, barn dancing and a display of uniform through the ages. Oh, and the refreshments. Most of the adults seemed to get to the refreshments just as quickly as the girls got to the circus skills and face-painting.

The one thing I really loved about our launch party was the way that it had been arranged so that all the unit leaders were free to wander around rather than having to arrange and run activities for the girls to do throughout the afternoon. It was fantastic to get a chance to catch up with people who I hadn't really had a chance to talk to since we all camped together at the county jamboree in 2004.

After an afternoon of fun and games, which included me having my face painted, we finished it all off with a circus display from the people who ran the circus skills workshops and some cake (a very pretty decorated fairy cake, not the gorgeous looking cake that's in the previous entry)

The cake

Every good party needs a cake!

About the colour scheme...

These colours are the closest that I can get to the ones in the official "Centenary sparkle" design.  While there are those who think it "far too much", I have grown very attached to my neckerchief and my mug which both have this pattern!
